| Continuing Education Credits for Ohio Based Law Enforcement Professionals For calendar year 2007, Ohio based peace officers and highway patrol troopers are required to obtain 8 hours of continuing education units (CEUs). The Ohio State Legislature passed a Professional Education Training bill in 2006. The State of Ohio Office of the Attorney General has already approved 14 of Enforcement Expo's conference sessions as eligible for CEU credits. Enforcement Expo believes up to 70% of the program will be approved by the time the show begins on July 11. See below for instructions on obtaining CEU credits: - Ohio-base peace officers and highway patrol officers are required to earn 8 hours of continuing education credits in the calendar year of 2007. Units are measured in real time and for a 60 minute session law enforcement professionals will receive 1 credit; for a 90-minute session they will receive 1.5 credits.
- Five of the eight hours of training needs to be directly related to crime victim related training. Crime related training is defined as: Any and all training, the primary focus of which is to convey knowledge, skills and abilities specifically designed to enhance officer intervention with crime victims and crime victim advocates.
- Visit http://www.ag.state.oh.us/le/training/forms/CPT_LETTER.pdf to obtain a Request for Prior Approval of Continuing Professional Training form. Prior approval of training is not required, this service is offered to law enforcement agency administrators and individuals and organizations offering in-service and advanced training.
- Attendees will receive a certificate of completion of Enforcement Expo conference sessions on-site or by mail after the event.
- Attendees are responsible for forwarding their approved conference session certificates to the training officer of their respective department.
- Training officers will contact Lloyd Early with the Office of the Attorney General to get the CEU's recorded.
